WHAT IS HYPNOSIS

Hypnosis is not magic and there are many myths about hypnosis and what it is capable off. In fact all it is actually capable of doing is achieving a sense of calmness and relaxation. It is actually the therapy that works along side the hypnosis which makes it a very effective tool.

Hypnosis does not create new abilities but enables existing capacities to be used in new ways.

Hypnosis does not turn subjects into automates and subjects will reject suggestions unacceptable to their personalities. In other words Hypnotherapy can never make someone do something that they would not normally do in a conscious state.

Everyone goes into natural hypnotic state many times a day. Sometimes when you are driving and suddenly realise you have gone a couple of miles without paying attention to where you are geographically, or moments before you go to sleep at night, you can hear everything that is going on but you feel so relaxed and peaceful. That is a natural state of hypnosis.

In the normal waking state the conscious mind is in control, but it also imposes all kinds of biases, prejudices, repressions, distortions and fixed pattern of beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviours on us.
In the hypnotic state the limitations of the conscious mind are set aside for a time and the unconscious mind becomes more literal. The responses are more natural. There is an increased availability of thoughts and memories previously hidden and a greater openness to new concepts and behaviours now become more available to the individual.

With this in mind Hypnotherapy can be used to help with many kinds of issues
